On our last day, a boat ride to spot some humpback whales. In the up and down swing at the sea, we caught a female diving after its calf. Beautiful and unforgettable.

One of the most charming places I have ever been to. From all the places I know, this was my favorite travel. Landscapes worth of a movie set, everything I saw in July 2008 is carved so strongly in my memory that every now and then I dream that I am back to this magical little piece of the world.

On our last day in Calafate - Argentinian Patagonia, we were granted with a shepherd leading his herd of sheep.

Besides the huge time zone difference, which makes you numb for a while, I arrived in Beijing in one of the coldest days of that year. Temperatures around -14°C and very windy. When I left the hotel without a jacket or a hat, I felt a heavy weight, as if someone had laid their hand over my head, but actually it was the cold wind starting to freeze me up.

Located in a military area, the Forte (as local people call it) is a fascinating place, designed with an aesthetic sense, keeping the ecological balance. It started in the surroundings of Santa Teresa Fortress, in 1762. After being abandoned and laid waste, there was a restoration in 1928, and has been taken care of by Uruguayan military men since then.

The Cayos Cochinos are a group of small islands that seem to be flooded. Cayo Largo del Sur is in the southeastern end of Cuba and comprises several islets, where you can have a boat tour and go diving. It is paradise! I had never seen such green water and thin white sand before. I went diving in a transparent salted sea with colorful fish, coral reef and a shipwreck – all this in pleasant temperature.
