Dona Marta Lookout (Mirante Dona Marta) is where I got the best view of Rio de Janeiro, and where you can see all the touristic places.

O caminho foi sempre subida
Always going up

Some time ago I spent a few months in Rio de Janeiro on business. Luckily I have friends living there, and thanks to them I went togreat places and did some tours the tourists normally do not – like cycling to MIRANTE DONA MARTA, going up Paineiras Street. We left Largo dos Guimarães in the neighborhood of Santa Teresa and went up 10 km, always rewarded with the most extraordinary view.

The lookout is 360 meters high and you can see the Sugar Loaf Mountain (Pão de Açúcar), Corcovado, Christ the Redeemer (Cristo Redentor), Maracanã, Guanabara Bay (Baía de Guanabara and Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon. The view is spectacular, much better than climbing Corcovado and the Sugar Loaf Mountain; really worth while.

Banho revigorante
Invigorating

But that was not all, on the way back we enjoyed the natural showers, invigorating after such physical effort.

Going down the street was fast and easy, a little dangerous though. As I went down, I was more confident and let go of the breaks, whatmade me go faster. I did not make one of the turns well and just flipped with my bike and camera, which looked like the letter V after hitting the protection wall. I just got a few cuts, and from that moment on I had my hands on the breaks.

TOME NOTA
On Sundays and holidays the PAINEIRA ROAD (ESTRADA DAS PAINEIRAS) is closed for vehicles and becomes a leisure area.
Cycling in the middle of the forest, with great view of the city is a great option for the weekend, not to mention the natural showers.

Se eu tivesse caído 2 metros antes teria rolado em um barranco!

Não tenho foto do tombo, mas vou te mandar a foto do meu joelho rasgado. ;)
